Born and raised in Amarillo, TX, I eagerly relocated to the DFW area for college and have since made it my permanent home.
Since 2009, my family and I have been proud residents of Benbrook, a community we cherish deeply. Benbrook's exceptional qualities, from its excellent schools to its friendly neighbors and serene atmosphere, make it an ideal place for family life.
Our travels have taken us across the United States and to various corners of the world, including Mexico, Nicaragua, El Salvador, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Australia. Despite these global adventures, we always find ourselves drawn back to the familiar and beloved comforts of Texas.
In 2010, I played a key role in founding Opportunity Resource Services, a nonprofit organization where I continue to lead as President & CEO. At ORS, we effectively manage nine major grants from the Department of Education along with two Americorp VISTA programs. Our team is passionately dedicated to the mission of eliminating generational poverty in Texas.
My journey in local governance started in 2018 with my election to the Benbrook, TX, City Council, where I was reelected in 2020 and again in 2022. It's been a great honor and a fulfilling journey to serve the Benbrook community in this capacity.
Additionally, my commitment to community and professional development extends through various other roles, including being a member of the Texas Business Leadership Council, a non-partisan organization that provides public policy research and recommendations to our state's elected leadership. I am also a member of the Benbrook Chamber of Commerce, which seeks to create a positive economic environment and enhance the well-being of the Benbrook area.
These roles have enriched my experience and allowed me to contribute more effectively to my community and profession.
I believe in the power of community, and in the strength of our families, in all the beautiful and diverse ways those families are formed. Supporting, nurturing, and empowering families is central to a healthy and vibrant community.
I believe that honesty and integrity are the pillars of leadership. These principles are most important for those who are in positions of influence.
No one should take life for granted, nor should we lose the ability to laugh when things don't go our way. Dwight Eisenhower once said, "Always take your job seriously, never yourself."
I believe in fiscal prudence and frugality. There is time to save and time to spend, but there is always time for prudence.
At a time when we are divided on many issues, it is critical that we treat each other with respect and decency and that we protect everyone's constitutional & civil rights.
I have always been interested in creative ideas that lead to practical solutions. I am a pragmatist at heart, and I identify with Nelson Mandela, who once said, "It always seems impossible until it is done."
